The Welsh Government has launched a consultation seeking views of parents and carers on the draft statutory guidance on 14 to 16 learning in the curriculum for Wales. The draft guidance explains the legal requirements for a school’s curriculum, supports schools in designing a curriculum which meets the legal requirements and outlines the Welsh government’s priorities for 14 to 16 year olds. The consultation closes on 8 May 2024.

The Welsh Government has launched a consultation on proposed changes to data collection requirements for the additional learning needs (ALN) system in local authority maintained schools and non-school settings. The proposals aim to modify data collection practices because from September 2025, the ALN system will become the sole system for supporting children and young people with additional learning needs in Wales. The consultation covers three areas: individual children and young people with ALN attending maintained education settings or educated other than at school, ALN provision and delivery within maintained education settings, and individual level data on the education workforce in maintained settings. The changes are intended to help the Welsh Government and responsible bodies better support learners with ALN and monitor the system. The consultation closes on 3 December 2025.

The Welsh Government has launched a consultation, seeking views on its draft carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) policy. The proposed policy supports CCUS under certain conditions, such as where it demonstrably contributes to decarbonisation and economic growth, where no reasonable alternatives for reducing emissions exist, and where it does not unnecessarily prolong fossil fuel use. The consultation closes on 24 February 2025. Following the consultation, and subject to statutory or other assessments, the Welsh Government intends to issue the policy as a Ministerial written statement, incorporate it into future editions of Planning Policy Wales and Net Zero Wales Carbon Budgets, and develop detailed guidance for planning officers and other decision makers on its practical implementation.

The Welsh Government has initiated a 12-week public consultation on proposed changes to the Council Tax appeals framework in Wales. This consultation, which will run until 3 April 2025, is part of the government's broader commitment to establish a fairer council tax system, with a comprehensive redesign scheduled for 2028. The proposed reforms aim to enhance transparency, streamline the appeals process and grant taxpayers greater autonomy. Key changes include enabling the Valuation Office Agency to provide property information earlier in the process and removing the automatic referral of unresolved cases to the Valuation Tribunal for Wales. These measures are designed to improve taxpayers' understanding of the process, facilitate informed decision-making and allow individuals to choose how far they wish to pursue an appeal.

The Welsh Government has launched a consultation on the Draft Disabled People’s Rights Plan: 2025 to 2035. The plan has been developed in partnership with the Disability Rights Taskforce, policy officials, and external stakeholders to remove the systemic barriers that hinder disabled people from fully participating in society. The plan details the persistent inequalities and discrimination experienced by disabled people and sets out the government’s 10-year framework for improving the lives of disabled people in Welsh society, reducing prejudice and discrimination and adopting the social model of Disability. The plan is guided by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Disabled People (UNCRDP).

The Welsh Government has launched a consultation seeking views on proposed reforms to Fire and Rescue Authorities (FRAs) in Wales. The consultation covers three main areas: changes to the composition and role of FRA members, strengthening of budget setting mechanisms, and establishing principles for a new inspection programme. The proposals aim to reform both governance and funding structures of Welsh fire and rescue services. Stakeholders can submit responses via online form, email, or post to the Fire Services Branch in Merthyr Tydfil. The consultation runs from 29 August 2025 to 24 October 2025.

The Welsh Government has launched a consultation on proposed amendments to the Childcare Act 2006 (Local Authority Assessment) (Wales) Regulations 2016. The review aims to modify Local Authorities' Childcare Sufficiency Assessment (CSA) duties through less prescriptive requirements, revised data collection methods and new statutory guidance. The Welsh Government has launched a consultation seeking comments on proposed reforms to the National Health Service (NHS) general dental services contracts in Wales. The proposed reforms include plans for a single access route to NHS dental services, implementation of a revised remuneration system that is fair and transparent, disincentivising unnecessary routine dental exams, adjusting patient charges, and modifications to patient charging structures. The proposals also include updates to contract terms and conditions, including parental leave. Responses are sought by 19 June 2025.

The Welsh Government launched a public consultation on the revision of the National Development Framework (NDF), which governs the planning and management of places, communities, infrastructure and natural resources in Wales. The consultation seeks views on the draft statement of public participation, the draft national conversation engagement plan and a call for evidence on the role the revised NDF should play in meeting Wales's needs. The consultation launches alongside the announcement that work has begun on Wales's first Climate and Nature Action Plan. The Welsh Government has launched a consultation on proposed changes to the Putting Things Right process and the National Health Service (Concerns, Complaints and Redress Arrangements) (Wales) Regulations 2011, SI 2011/704. The consultations sets out proposed policy changes that aim to place people at the heart of the process, provide an improved focus on patient-centred communication, make the Putting Things Right process more inclusive, include escalation processes for urgent concerns of deliberate abuse or harm from care or after someone dies and update arrangements to provide free legal advice and medical expert reports. The consultation runs from 12 February 2024 until 6 May 2024.

The Welsh Government has launched a consultation on the implementation of provisions under the Leasehold and Freehold Reform Act 2024 aimed at improving transparency for freehold homeowners who pay administration charges on privately managed estates. The proposals would require estate managers to publish a schedule of administration charges and to provide updated schedules at least annually, whenever charges are amended, and on request. A minimum 28-day notice period would apply before any new or increased charges take effect. The consultation closes on 12 March 2026.
