Burundi has a merger control regime, and a decree on the organisation and operation of Burundi’s Independent Competition Commission (the Commission) has been in place since 30 October 2023. However, the Commission was officially launched in Burundi on 25 April 2025. One of the duties of the Commission is to rule on cases falling within its remit, notably collective anti-competitive practices as defined by Law No. 1/06 of March 25, 2010, on Legal Regime of Competition, Burundi (Competition Act).
