The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) has published final sector guidance for four additional industries, bringing the total number of sectors for which the TNFD provides guidance to 13. The newly added sectors include apparel, textiles and footwear; beverages; construction materials; and engineering, construction and real estate. Additionally, the TNFD has issued draft guidance for three more sectors: fishing; marine transportation and cruise lines; and water utilities and services, which is open for consultation until 4 April 2025 via the TNFD website. Based on the feedback received, the TNFD intends to publish the final sector guidance for these sectors in June 2025. The sector guidance complements the TNFD's core recommendations and its 'locate, evaluate, assess and prepare (LEAP)' assessment approach, providing sector-specific considerations for assessing nature-related issues and recommending disclosure metrics for companies reporting in line with the TNFD's recommendations.

The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) will unveil recommendations at COP30 to improve market access to decision-useful nature data, following a series of consultations and pilot tests from June to October 2025. This phase aims to refine nature-data principles, set quality standards for corporate reporting, target setting, and transition planning, and identify critical data gaps for a proposed Nature Data Public Facility (NDPF). Concurrently, TNFD is launching a Grand Challenge—led by Conservation X Labs and supported by UNDP and the German Government’s International Climate Initiative—to foster technology-driven solutions that help SMEs assess their nature-related risks and impacts. These efforts build on previous initiatives, including a COP16 discussion paper and a workshop at Kew Gardens, supported by a global network of partners and aligned with international sustainability standards.

The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) has published its 2025 Status Report, reviewing two years of progress since the publication of its guidance and recommendations in 2023. The report reveals that 620 organisations across 50 countries, representing US$20trn in assets under management, have committed to adopting TNFD-aligned reporting.
