The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), in partnership with Accounting for Sustainability (A4S), has published guidance to help chief financial officers (CFOs) assess how nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities may affect business performance and financial prospects. The guidance states that nature is a material input to financial resilience, as businesses depend on ecosystem services such as water, land, raw materials, pollination and healthy soils, while their activities can also contribute to nature loss. It explains that nature-related risks can have financial consequences, including operational disruption, higher costs, increased insurance premiums, stranded assets, reduced asset values, and liability, reputational and policy-related risks.

The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosure (TNFD) and the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG) have jointly published a report mapping the correspondence between the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) and the TNFD’s disclosure recommendations. The report demonstrates that all 14 TNFD recommendations are reflected in the ESRS.

The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) and the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative (SSE) published the 'Model Guidance on Nature-Related Financial Disclosures: A Template for Stock Exchanges', offering a practical starting point for stock exchanges to assist listed companies in disclosing nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks, and opportunities. Designed as a flexible foundation that exchanges can tailor to their local market contexts, the template responds to growing investor demand for nature-related information beyond climate disclosures. It aims to reduce market fragmentation by promoting aligned reporting practices. By providing a consistent, practical framework, the guidance helps stock exchanges facilitate the integration of nature-related data into corporate reporting, thereby contributing to more stable and transparent markets.
