The PIP Implant World Victims Association (PIPA) celebrates the long-standing fight for PIP breast implant compensation after the Paris Court of Appeal held that the German certifier of the PIP implants, TUV Rheinland, is responsible for marketing breast implants filled with industrial silicone for the past 10 years. The decision paves the way for full compensation totalling to tens of thousands of euros for 20,000 victims, at the request of PIPA’s lawyer. TUV approved ‘PIP to affix the CE mark to the adulterated products’ which lead to victims having suffered ruptured implants, leaking of the silicone in the body which formed lumps leading to inflammation (siliconoma), and in worse cases the high incidence of autistic disorders in children who were breastfed with TUV-certified silicone. PIPA notes that the statute of limitations for personal injury is 10 years from the end of the suffering, thus patients who may not have applied for compensation may still be entitled to do so by 30 June 2021. The judgement is set to be released on 16 September 2021.
