The Pensions Dashboards Programme (PDP) has launched a call for feedback on proposals to adapt the industry participant approach used for connecting pension providers and schemes to the Central Digital Architecture (CDA) to support the delivery of private sector dashboards (PSDs). In particular, the PDP is seeking views on whether a collaborative model, involving a defined group of industry participants working closely with the PDP team, can help shape the processes, standards and support needed for dashboards developed and operated in the private sector. The PDP also envisages a PSD working group that goes beyond pure connection issues and supports the iteration of standards, development of guidance, refinement of end-to-end processes and testing of full dashboard journeys, including user experience. Responses to the request for feedback questions to help shape how this engagement model is taken forward are sought by 10 February 2026.

The Pensions Dashboards Programme (PDP) has published a blog on the updated draft reporting standards for pension providers and schemes (published in November 2024). The blog highlights that from April 2025, providers will only be required to keep records, with routine data transmission to the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) commencing at a later date. Operational monitoring has been removed. The blog also notes that the PDP November update also included minor amendments to the data standards and the code of connection and has updated the Find and View JSON schemas. As regards next steps, the PDP does not anticipate making significant changes to the reporting standards prior to seeking formal approval from the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions. The PDP aims to publish the final standards in the first quarter of 2025. However, minor corrections and clarifications may be made if necessary. The PDP will also supply comprehensive technical details on how providers and schemes will report data to MaPS, including open API specifications and JSON schemas.

The consultation sought views on proposals to implement routine daily reporting of operational data to MaPS via API, as well as the proposed testing and assurance process for connected parties. Updated reporting standards v2.2 have been published in draft, with a formal coming-into-force date of 1 March 2027 intended once approved. Voluntary implementation is to commence from summer 2026, with MaPS on track to support integration testing by the end of June 2026 and having already made available a test environment ('test harness') to support system testing. For any directly connected organisations that have not yet implemented daily reporting by autumn 2026, manual reporting via file upload will be required at regular intervals, covering a subset of data including view response metrics, until daily reporting is fully implemented.

Testing has also highlighted areas for refinement, which MaPS plans to address as further iterations and larger-scale testing proceed. The update outlines continued progress in building out the dashboards ecosystem, with more than 60 million workplace and private pension records—over 75% of all such records—now connected, alongside millions of State Pension records marking a significant milestone in industry onboarding and data connectivity.

The Pensions Dashboards Programme (PDP) has published a statement reaffirming the government's commitment to delivering pensions dashboards and sharing survey insights from a sample of FCA-regulated pension providers.  The 'Pensions Dashboards Readiness Survey',  undertaken by Ipsos between October and November 2024 on 130 FCA-regulated pension providers, indicates that more than 90% of providers intended to connect to the dashboards ecosystem before or by their ‘connect by’ dates as set out in the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) guidance of March 2024. Also, more than 8 in 10 of respondents said all their data used for matching people to their pensions on dashboards was held digitally, while 85% of respondents reported that they were very or completely confident in their ability to meet the connection requirements while also maintaining their digital readiness. The survey is meant to be viewed as a ‘snapshot’ of dashboard readiness at the end of 2024, approximately 6 months ahead of the first connection date set out in the DWP guidance. Although some providers may face initial challenges in meeting the voluntary deadlines, the PDP notes that regulators have emphasised a flexible approach that avoids punitive measures, instead aiming to ensure that all providers eventually connect by 31 October 2026, thereby supporting improved retirement planning for individuals.
