The Attorney General's Office has published guidance detailing the process for obtaining prosecutorial consent in England and Wales. The guidance details that legal proceedings for certain criminal offences, as set out in legislation, may only commence with either the Attorney General's consent or, in some cases, with permission for the Director of Public Prosecutions to consent. The Attorney General’s Chambers of Malaysia has announced that the Arbitration (Amendment) Act 2024 (Act A1737) will come into operation on 1 January 2026, as appointed by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reforms) through Federal Government Gazette notice P.U. (B) 368/2025. The Act amends the Arbitration Act 2005, by updating terminology and clarifying the law applicable to arbitration agreements where the parties have not expressly agreed on the governing law. It also broadens the definition of arbitration agreements to include agreements formed through exchanges of documents. In addition, the Act provides for the recognition of electronic and digital signatures in arbitration-related documents and introduces a statutory framework for third-party funding in arbitration. Amendments are also made to provisions relating to the enforcement of foreign arbitral awards.
