The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has issued a Final Notice to Mr Markos Markou, following the Supreme Court’s refusal to allow Mr Markou permission to appeal the Court of Appeal judgment: Markos Markou v The Financial Conduct Authority [2024] EWCA Civ 1575. The Court of Appeal found that the FCA’s decision to ban Markos Markou from financial services was the correct one; it further remitted the matter to the FCA with a direction to impose a reduced financial penalty from that in the FCA’s 2021 Decision Notice in respect of Markou. The FCA’s Final Notice is given in accordance with the Court of Appeal’s direction.

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has published its Financial Lives 2024 survey report, which presents findings on the financial resilience of UK consumers. The report shows that a significant portion of the population lacks cash savings, with one in ten individuals having none and 21% possessing less than £1,000 for emergencies. Additionally, the survey shows that one in four people experience challenges in maintaining financial commitments, often resulting in missed payments. The report notes that access to debt advice services has been associated with improved management of financial pressures for 61% of users. The FCA states that it has observed progress in banking access, evidenced by increased current account ownership and a reduction in digital exclusion from 14% in 2017 to 2% in the current study.

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has published Handbook Notice 125 which describes the changes made to the FCA Handbook and other materials by the FCA Board and its Executive Regulation and Policy Committee under their legislative and statutory powers on 9 December 2024, 13 December 2024 and 19 December 2024. The changes effected through several instruments take effect on various dates commencing on 20 December 2024.

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has published Handbook Notice 136, setting out amendments to the FCA Handbook and related material approved by the FCA board and the executive regulation and policy committee in November and December 2025.The notice summarises changes made through a series of instruments following consultations, including amendments affecting complaints handling, consumer investments, insurance conduct, non-financial misconduct, data reporting, sustainability disclosures and payment services. The FCA also publishes consultation feedback where no separate policy statement is issued.

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has published Handbook Notice 143, recording changes made by the FCA Board (Board) on 25 June and 30 July 2026. Among other matters, following consultation in CP26/8, the Board made certain changes to the Prospectus Rules: Admission to Trading on a Regulated Market (PRM) sourcebook pursuant to the Prospectus Rules: Admission to Trading on a Regulated Market (Clarificatory Amendments) Instrument 2026 (FCA 2026/49), effective 31 July 2026. Amendments to PRM 1.4, 2.3, 8.2, 9.2, 9.4, 9.5 and 10.1 are intended to give proper effect to aspects of the Public Offers & Admissions to Trading regime that came into force on 19 January 2026.
