The European Commission has imposed definitive anti-dumping duties of 5.4% on softwood plywood imports from Brazil, following an investigation that found the imports were entering the EU at dumped prices, causing injury to the EU industry. The duties apply to all Brazilian exporters, except one company for which no dumping was found. Provisional duties at the same level have been in place since 4 November 2025. The EU softwood plywood industry employs over 1,500 people, with annual EU consumption valued at approximately €600 million, of which Brazilian imports account for approximately €216 million. Softwood plywood is widely used across sectors such as construction, furniture manufacturing, transport, packaging, flooring and roofing.

The European Commission has imposed definitive anti-dumping duties ranging from 29.1% to 42.3% on adipic acid imports from China, following an investigation that found the imports were entering the EU at dumped prices, causing injury to the EU industry. Provisional duties have been in place since November 2025. The EU adipic acid industry, based in Germany, France and Italy, employs over 1,100 people. Total EU imports of adipic acid from non-EU countries amount to €160 million, of which approximately €130 million comes from China. Adipic acid is mainly used in the production of Nylon 66 and polyester polyols across industries such as textiles, furniture, automotive, footwear and construction.

The European Commission has imposed definitive anti-dumping duties ranging from 60%–67.6% on polyamide yarn imports from China. The Commission's Directorate-General for Trade and Economic Security determined that Chinese imports were entering the EU at dumped prices, causing injury to EU producers in Croatia, Italy, Spain, Romania and Slovenia, who collectively employ approximately 2,000 people. The EU market for polyamide yarns is valued at €400 million. These yarns are used in textiles, home furnishings and medical applications.

The European Commission has imposed definitive anti-dumping duties ranging from 57.7% to 90.3% on high-pressure seamless steel cylinders for compressed or liquefied gas imported from China. The measures follow an investigation that identified unfair trade practices covering cylinders of all diameters and volume capacities. During the investigation period, from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024, the EU market totalled 6.4 million units, of which 4.5 million units were imported from China.

The European Commission has imposed definitive anti-dumping duties of between 56% and 60% on imports of candles, tapers and similar products from China for a period of five years. The measures follow an investigation, which found that Chinese imports were entering the EU at dumped prices, causing injury to the EU industry. The EU candle market is estimated at 620,000 tonnes, valued at €1.7bn. Total imports amount to approximately 170,000 tonnes, of which around 140,000 tonnes originate from China.

The European Commission has imposed definitive anti-dumping duties on imports of flat hot-rolled steel products from Egypt, Japan and Vietnam, following an investigation that found the legal requirements for such measures were met. The duties, enforced for five years, range from 11.7% for Egypt, 6.9%–30% for Japan and 12.1% for Vietnam. Provisional duties in place since 7 April 2024 will not be collected retroactively. The Commission has closed its investigation into Indian imports without imposing duties, as it was not established that Indian imports were dumped.

The European Commission has imposed definitive anti-dumping duties on imports of terephthalic acid from Korea and Mexico, following an investigation that found that the imports were entering the EU at dumped prices and causing injury to EU industry. Duties on Korean imports range from 6.1% to 13.3%, while imports from Mexico are subject to a 24.1% duty. The EU market for terephthalic acid is valued at approximately €1.4 billion. Terephthalic acid is a raw material used to produce polyethylene terephthalate, which is used to manufacture plastic bottles, food packaging and fabrics.

The European Commission has imposed definitive anti-dumping duties ranging from 31.3% to 53.8% on imports of valine from China. The duties follow an investigation which found that Chinese valine imports were entering the EU at dumped prices, causing material injury to the EU industry, which is located in France. Valine is available in food, feed and pharmaceutical grades and is used in animal feed, dietary supplements and pharmaceutical products. The EU valine market is valued at around €100m, of which Chinese imports account for approximately €80m.

The European Commission has imposed a definitive anti-dumping duty of 62.5% on steel track shoes imported from China, following an investigation that found the imports were being sold at dumped prices and causing injury to the EU industry. Provisional duties have been in place since 22 April 2025. Steel track shoes are components used in tracked construction and mining equipment, such as bulldozers and excavators.

The European Commission has imposed definitive safeguard measures on imports of certain ferroalloys into the EU, following a December 2024 investigation that found a surge in these imports had caused serious injury to the EU ferroalloy industry. The measures consist of country-specific tariff rate quotas for each type of ferroalloy, capping the volume eligible to enter the EU duty-free. Imports above these quotas may still enter duty-free if their price exceeds the established threshold. Although the safeguards apply to all third countries, including Norway and Iceland—both EEA members—they have been designed to minimise disruption to the integrated European value chain. The Commission will hold trimonthly consultations with Norway and Iceland and closely monitor the impact of the measures. These measures will remain in force for a period of three years, expiring on 17 November 2028.

The European Commission's AI Office held a webinar on 28 November 2024 to explore the architecture of the AI Act. The event formed part of the AI Pact initiative, aimed at engaging stakeholders in the implementation of the EU's AI legislation. As part of this webinar, the speakers discussed possible future legislative action, supplemental to the EU AI Act, to address the environmental impacts of AI.

The European Commission has signalled its intention to withdraw the proposal for an EU Green Claims Directive, prompting the Council to cancel scheduled trilogue negotiations with the European Parliament on 20 June 2025. The Directive was originally proposed with the aim of establishing standard rules on substantiation, verification, and communication for traders that want to make environmental claims about products to be placed on the EU market.
