The European Commission has imposed definitive anti-dumping duties on imports of continuous filament glass fibre from Egypt, Bahrain and Thailand following an investigation that found these imports were sold at dumped prices, causing injury to the EU industry. The duties were set at 11.0% for Egypt, 11.8% for Bahrain, and between 15.3% and 25.4% for Thailand. The Commission determined that the unfair pricing harmed an industry employing approximately 2,500 to 3,000 people across the EU, particularly in Belgium and Slovakia, and the measures are intended to restore fair competition. Continuous filament glass fibre is a strategically important material used in sectors such as automotive, energy, construction and electronics, including in wind turbine blades and electrical insulation, with EU consumption estimated at one million tons annually, around 200,000 tons of which are imported from the countries concerned.
