CPR changes—31 December 2025

Changes are provided for in the Civil Procedure (Amendment No 3) Rules 2025, SI 2025/1229 which come into force on 31 December 2025. The rules amend CPR 77, provisions which support criminal justice. The rules insert a new section setting out the procedure to be followed where, under section 32ZAA of the Crime (Sentences) Act 1997 or section 256AZBA of the Criminal Justice Act 2003, the Secretary of State directs the Parole Board to refer its direction to release a prisoner to the High Court. The rules also set out the procedure for applying for non-disclosure of information which would adversely affect the prevention of disorder or crime, or the health or welfare of the defendant or any other person.
