According to the Metropolitan Police, William Clapperton has been sentenced to 22 years’ imprisonment after attempted murder of his wife, Napangkawarin Clapperton, on 15 December 2020 in Twickenham following an eight–day trial. Mr Clapperton was found to have attacked Ms Clapperton at their place of residence after she had informed him of her intentions to end their marriage. Mr Clapperton proceeded to cut a vast amount of his wife’s clothing before inflicting significant injuries to her face, neck and body with the intention to murder her.
