Article summary
The Welsh Government has announced it will provide more than £2m funding to support natural flood management (NFM) projects across Wales. The funding will help Risk Management Authorities such as Natural Resources Wales and local authorities to manage increased flood risks as a result of climate change, using natural methods such as tree-planting, salt marsh and dune restoration and re-introducing meanders and natural flood plains. Other benefits of NFMs include promoting wider biodiversity, water quality and amenity improvements, and increased public learning. The first ten NFM projects have already been approved and will receive 100% funding over two years.
