The Prime Minister’s Office has confirmed that a deal has been agreed between the UK and the EU on Horizon Europe. Under the new agreement, the UK will be participating in the programme as a fully associated member until 2027 and researchers and organisations can apply for grants from 7 September 2023. Horizon Europe will provide UK companies and research institutions with exceptional prospects to take the lead in global technology development and research across various domains, including climate, health and artificial intelligence. In addition, an agreement has also been made on the UK’s association to the Copernicus programme. The agreement must now be approved by the Council of the EU before being formally adopted in the EU-UK Specialised Committee on Participation in Union Programmes.
