Eurostat has published figures indicating that the overall share of renewable energy consumption by the EU increased to 19.7% in 2019. Sweden led the way with 56.4%—the highest proportion among the other EU Member States, while Luxembourg, with 7%, had the lowest proportion of renewables used. Eurostat’s figures have shown that fourteen Member States have exceeded their target levels for 2020, six Member States are close to their targets and the rest still have a long way to go.
