The UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Secretary-General, Petteri Taalas, have jointly released the WMO Statement on the State of the Global Climate for 2019. The report highlighted ‘the tell-tale physical signs of climate’ by emphasising the increasing land and ocean heat, the accelerating sea level rise and melting glaciers. The impact of climate change on socio-economic development, human health, migration and displacement, food security and land and marine ecosystems have also been included in the statement.
