Scottish Renewables (SR) has published its draft response to Ofgem’s open letter regarding the future of the network price control. The response focuses on a number of points, including that ‘strategic anticipatory investments’, that align with the pace of the deployment of renewables, are key to support the electrification of heat and transport in the coming years. SR also stated that the updated framework must deliver net-zero at the best value for customers, and that it must be faster and more co-ordinated to allow for innovation and flexibility in the system. SR further highlighted that supply chain uncertainty would create a risk within renewable infrastructure moving forward, and that an accelerated network build is needed to give Transmission Owners ‘upfront certainty’ to deliver the investment required to meet the net zero targets.
