Care England has published a report which compares the funding of independent care homes to those local authorities operate. The report emphasises the underfunding of independent homes which are expected to provide care for under £500 a week, compared to state-run homes which receive over £700 a week. This is despite all services being held to the same standards by the Care and Quality Commission and the quality in local authority homes being the same as state-run homes.
