The 16 contracting parties of the Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the North-East Atlantic (OSPAR) have agreed on a new ten-year marine strategy with the aim of protecting the sea and ocean through restoring biodiversity within the North-East Atlantic and preventing plastic pollution. The contracting parties have also agreed to establish a Marine Protected Area (MPA) which encompasses an area within the North-East Atlantic Ocean equivalent in size to France.
