Ofsted has published its 2023 priorities for early years, social care and schools and further education and skills, which set out the focus and upcoming work Ofsted has planned for the coming year. For early years, Ofsted will be prioritising giving children ‘the best start in life’, through high-quality early years education and a commitment to ‘right touch regulation’. For social care, Ofsted has announced that it will be advising on and implementing regulatory changes, working with government to improve its ability to tackle illegal and unregistered providers, and will be using inspections of local authority children’s services to identify best practice and areas for improvement. For schools and further education and skills, Ofsted has prioritised boosting pupil’s attendance, undertaking further curriculum insight work, helping develop special educational needs and disabilities reform, and developing training for all inspectors.
