Natural Resources Wales (NRW) has welcomed the recommendations made by the Welsh Government in its Renewable Energy Deep Dive which set out the nation’s plan to achieve net zero. According to NRW, these recommendations included generating sufficient renewable energy to meet needs and use surplus to tackle natural emergencies, scaling up local energy plans, encouraging and changing public behaviours and attitudes in a way that supports the net zero mentality and creating advice services for the public in relation to energy. Other recommendations included improving access to the public estate for the community energy sector, creating a larger sustainable sector by building additional capacity in community enterprises and attracting additional investment in renewable energy generation in Wales.
