The Local Government Association (LGA) has called on the government to urgently invest in mental health services for local government as part of recovery planning following the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In a new report, the LGA and the Centre for Mental Health argue that a national focus is required on mental health, including those affected by the coronavirus crisis, as well as ‘more funding for councils to spend with local partners, including the voluntary and community sector, on meeting their communities’ mental wellbeing needs’.
