The inaugural UK Islands Forum was held at the Orkney Research & Innovation Campus and focused on how islands from around the UK could maximise the opportunities raised by the UK’s plans to reach net zero. Delegates observed renewable energy projects and engaged with Ofgem on the ways that regulations can support net zero targets. The forum aimed to develop strong partnerships between the public and private sector to encourage further investment in renewable technologies, as well as enable island leaders to share ideas and overcome common problems.
