The Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, George Eustice MP, has issued the Environmental Protection (England) Coal Fired Power Station Direction 2022 to the Environment Agency on the operation of coal-fired power stations. This direction is to momentarily relax permitting conditions for stations in England between 1 October 2022 and 31 March 2023, with the aim of addressing energy security issues whilst also reducing unnecessary pollution.
