Eurostat has published a report, titled ‘Sustainable development in the European Union — 2022 monitoring report on progress towards the SDGs in an EU context', which provides a statistical assessment of progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the EU over the past five years. The report showed that though the EU had made progress towards most targets over the last five years, in line with the European Green Deal, the Digital Strategy and the European Pillar of Social Rights Action Plan, the movement towards the SDGs only occurred in a few areas. The report also analysed the additional effects covering land footprint, material footprint, CO2 emissions, gross value added generated outside the EU and the impact of coronavirus (COVID-19) on the SDGs.
