The European Council has published its conclusions on climate change and coronavirus (COVID-19). The European Council welcomed the progress accomplished so far on 'overall coordination at EU level' against coronavirus however, it urged the Council, Commission and Member States to continue the general coordination effort ‘based on the best available science, notably regarding quarantine regulations, cross-border contact tracing, testing strategies, the joint assessment of testing methods, the mutual recognition of tests, and the temporary restriction on non-essential travel into the EU’. The European Council also welcomed the work at EU level on the development and distribution of vaccines and emphasised the requirement for a’ robust authorisation’ and monitoring system, the building of vaccination limit in the EU, and reasonable and affordable access to vaccines.
