The European Commission has launched a consultation on the Sustainable Products Initiative (SPI), which responds to the objectives of the EU Green Deal and the new Circular Economy Action Plan, and intends to make products suitable for a 'climate neutral, resource efficient and circular economy, reduce waste and ensure that the performance of frontrunners in sustainability progressively becomes the norm'. The consultation aims to collect views and evidence from the members of the public and relevant stakeholders on SPI, including its possible scope, aims and the main policy options that should be examined for its implementation. The Commission welcomes responses from a broad range of stakeholders, within or outside of the EU, and all citizens and organisations. The consultation will run from 17 March 2021 to 9 June 2021.
