The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) has published guidance on the Sustainable Farming Incentive Pilot. The pilot is one of three schemes that have been established to promote environmental land management by rewarding farmers that manage their land in a sustainable way. There are eight ‘standards’ as part of the pilot, each of which comprises a set of land management actions which landowners will get paid for if they carry them all out.
