Floods Minister, Rebecca Pow, and the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) have announced the first group of communities to receive funding as part of the government’s £100m Frequently Flooded Allowance, which aims to provide better protection for areas that experience repeated flooding. The first 53 projects will receive more than £26m in funding to better protect more than 2,300 homes and businesses across the country. The allowance targets communities in which ten or more properties have been flooded twice or more in the last decade.
