On 15 December 2022, the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP15) of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) saw the making of a Donor Joint Statement under which a number of countries committed to substantially increase their investment into supporting the protection and restoration of the natural world by 2025 and the UK pledged almost £30m to support developing countries in delivering the 30 by 30 goal. In addition, 126 ministers and 77 deputy ministerial representatives from 140 parties, alongside 60 heads of international organisations, participated in the high-level segment of COP15, where several representatives underlined their commitment to finalising and implementing the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF). Side events saw the announcement of the first six countries joining Nature for Health and the launch of the Small Island Developing States Coalition for Nature, while the third day at the Rio Conventions Pavilion focused on nature-based climate solutions and transformative changes to support nature positive pathways.
