The European Commission has approved an investment package of over €290m for 132 new projects under the LIFE programme for the environment and climate action. According to the Commission, the funding is to be used to mobilise a total investment of €562m for new LIFE projects designed to help the European continent become climate-neutral by 2050, as well as allow European biodiversity to begin recovering and support the EU’s green recovery following the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The projects are the first ones to be selected under the programming period of 2021–2027.
