WTO announces Türkiye's initiation of safeguard investigation into polyethylene terephthalate resin imports

The World Trade Organization (WTO) has reported that Türkiye notified the Committee on Safeguards on 6 January 2026 of the initiation of a safeguard investigation on 31 December 2025 concerning imports of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin. The notification requires interested parties to submit completed investigation questionnaires within 30 days of the publication of the relevant communiqué and allows them to request technical assistance from Türkiye's Ministry of Trade, Directorate General for Imports, while completing the questionnaires. The investigation aims to assess whether increased imports of PET resin are causing, or threatening to cause, serious injury to Türkiye's domestic industry.

The World Trade Organization (WTO) has reported that Madagascar notified the Committee on Safeguards on 6 January 2026 of the initiation of a safeguard investigation on 24 December 2025 concerning imports of plastic pipes and tubes and accessories. The notification requires interested parties to submit completed investigation questionnaires within 30 days of the publication of the relevant communiqué and allows them to request technical assistance from Madagascar's National Authority in charge of Trade Corrective Measures (ANMCC), while completing the questionnaires. The investigation aims to assess whether increased imports of plastic pipes and tubes and accessories are causing, or threatening to cause, serious injury to Madagascar's domestic industry.
