Withholding notice definition

What does Withholding notice mean?

A notice given by an employer to a Contractor indicating sums of money which will not be paid from an application made

A withholding notice is required in order to legitimately withhold money from a contractor in all Housing Grants Construction and Regeneration Act compliant construction contracts in order to comply with s.111 of that Act. If a contractor then disagrees with the reasons given, an adjudication must be commenced
