Target product carbon footprint clause—schedule for consumer goods contracts (The Chancery Lane Project) Additional recitals The parties acknowledge their common intention to fulfil their obligations under this agreement to: (i) achieve their respective climate goals including net zero targets; (ii) align with the ultimate objectives of the Paris Agreement, in particular pursuing efforts to limit global temperature increase to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels and achieving net zero or net negative emissions by 2050 or sooner, in a manner that promotes a just transition to a low carbon economy and that results in at least a 7% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions year on year; and (iii) minimise their impact on climate change by minimising the greenhouse gas emissions generated through the Provision of the Goods pursuant to this agreement. DESNZ launches call for evidence as part of independent review on greenhouse gas removals

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) has launched a call for evidence as part of an independent review, chaired by Dr Alan Whitehead, to examine how greenhouse gas removal (GGR) technologies can support the UK’s 2050 net zero targets. Stakeholders are invited to submit evidence on: (1) the potential scale of emissions savings; (2) opportunities and barriers to deploying GGRs at scale; (3) the economic costs associated with GGR deployment; (4) strategies for transitioning from public to private investment; (5) the role of GGRs in advancing government missions; (6) options for balancing the UK’s residual emissions; and (7) how GGRs could contribute to the UK’s security of supply. The call for evidence closes on 20 June 2025, with the review’s findings expected to be published in autumn 2025.
