Primary education definition

What does Primary education mean?

Education for pupils from the age of two until they move into secondary education.

The definition in the Education Act 1996, s 2 is surprisingly wide (ages 2 to 16) but the term is not used in practice to describe the education of most children after the end of Key Stage 2.
