What does Permitted acts mean?

The permitted acts are those acts which are permitted in relation to a work notwithstanding the rights of the copyright owner.

Permitted acts are more commonly known as copyright exceptions. The Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 includes many acts, including those fair dealing exceptions, exceptions for educational establishments, for librarians and assorted others.
