The custodial sentences which are available in the case of offenders under the age of 211 are identical to those available to courts in the civilian jurisdiction, with the sole exception of service detention2. In every case the provisions which govern the imposition of custodial sentences on offenders under the age of 21 are those which govern the imposition and enforcement of such sentences in the civilian courts3. Furthermore, the general sentencing principles4, and the principles and procedures applying to service courts only5 apply equally to those under the age of 21.
