The Welsh Government has published a prior approval determination form for the use of land as a temporary recreational campsite under Schedule 2, Part 4, Class BA of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 1995, SI 1995/418. The form confirms that use is limited to 28 days per calendar year where the land is located within a National Park, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or World Heritage Site, and 60 days per calendar year for other eligible land. Consent is not granted via Class BA is where land is subject to certain exclusions, including special areas of conservation, sites of special scientific interest, Ramsar sites and special protection areas, among others. Where an exclusion applies, full planning permission must be sought. A new notification is required for each calendar year in which the land is proposed to be used as a temporary recreational campsite.

The Welsh Government has published its update on procurement reform for March 2024, focussing on Learning and Development (L&D) timelines. The Welsh Government has noted that L&D offerings will be available for stakeholders in the lead up to the new Procurement Act 2023 going live in October 2024. These include focussed eLearning, intensive deep dive learning and short knowledge drop videos for suppliers, small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community and social enterprises (VCSEs) as well as all other stakeholders.

The Welsh Government has published a progress report on the implementation of the Grenfell Tower Inquiry Phase 2 recommendations and issued a related statement concerning elements of Grenfell Tower. The report summarises the actions taken to date in response to the Inquiry’s findings, setting out measures implemented and in development to strengthen building regulation and improve home safety and regulatory oversight in England. In a separate statement, the government confirmed that, following a request to retain certain elements of the Tower above floor 9 for possible inclusion in the memorial, it has instructed its principal contractor, DeconstructUK, to remove and preserve those elements where possible, acknowledged that the Grenfell Tower Memorial Commission had not been informed of the request at the time, and stated that no decision has been made on their future use, with further consultation required as part of the memorial design process led by Freehaus.

The Welsh Government has published the Provisional Local Government Settlement for 2026–27 following the second stage of the provisional budget. The settlement provides £6.4bn in core funding to local authorities via the revenue support grant and non-domestic rates, representing an average 2.7% increase on a like-for-like basis, with an additional £5.5m to ensure no authority receives less than a 2.3% rise. The Welsh Government has published two quality statements, setting out the expected outcomes and standards for mental health and self-harm services across NHS Wales and social care. These include provisions such as same-day open access support and trauma-informed care for people who have self-harmed. The Mental Health Quality Statement sets out nine core components for redesigning services to support open access care, including co-designing programmes with individuals with diverse perspectives and experiences, integrating trauma-informed approaches at all levels of care and delivering flexible, data-informed, collaborative and person centred services. The Self-Harm Quality Statement identifies six pillars of high-quality care: (1) immediate treatment; (2) trauma-informed support; (3) continuity of care; (4) safety planning; (5) holistic signposting and (6) skilled responders. The statements support the delivery of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy and the Suicide Prevention and Self‐Harm Strategy.

The Welsh Government has published its first combined ‘Energy Generation and Use in Wales’ report, setting out trends in energy generation and consumption and progress towards national renewable energy targets. The Welsh Government has published a written statement responding to the Children’s Commissioner for Wales’ 2024–25 Report, outlining actions across education, additional learning needs (ALN), child poverty, housing, transport, disability, mental health, neurodivergence, community cohesion and safeguarding. It notes undergoing updates to its guidance on school complaints, long-term ALN investment and continued delivery of the Child Poverty Strategy. The response also highlights a requirement for Children’s Rights Impact Assessments in housing-related support services funded via Housing Support Grant. The statement highlights key legislative reforms including the Homelessness and Social Housing Allocation (Wales) Bill, the Bus Services (Wales) Bill and ongoing work on safeguarding governance, alongside transport support such as the £1 bus fare for under-21s. It also details programmes including sanctuary pilots for mental health, the Neurodivergence Improvement Programme and a review of the Healthy Child Wales Programme.

The Welsh Government has published its response to the Commission for Welsh-speaking Communities’ 2025 report on town and country planning. The response addresses 14 recommendations aimed at integrating the Welsh language into the planning system. The Government accepted in principle 11 of these recommendations. These include proposals for statutory assessment methodologies for developments in areas of higher density linguistic significance, amendments to Planning Policy Wales and Technical Advice Note 20 and enhanced evidence requirements for Welsh language impact assessments.

The Welsh Government has published its response to the Grenfell Tower Inquiry Phase 2 report, accepting all 58 recommendations in full or in principle. The response tackles the systemic failures in industry, governance, and regulation that contributed to the Grenfell tragedy. Central to the response is the Building Safety (Wales) Bill, which has been laid before the Senedd and introduces significant reforms to building safety regulations. The Bill ensures that safety considerations are monitored throughout a building's lifecycle, establishes robust mechanisms for resident involvement, and creates stronger redress systems for when issues arise. While particularly relevant to Wales's approximately 180 high-rise residential buildings, the legislation will apply to multi-occupied residential properties.
