The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) has published research suggesting that key measures in the Employment Rights Bill, currently progressing through the House of Lords, could have unintended negative effects on employment. The analysis, which is based on the CIPD’s Labour Market Outlook – Winter 2024/25 report, focuses on the unfair dismissal, statutory probation period, fire and rehire, guaranteed hours, Statutory Sick Pay (SSP), day one paternity leave and unpaid parental leave and trade union provisions of the ERB.
