The Treasury Committee has written to over 21 public sector organisations, including HM Treasury, requesting details of all contracts awarded to Fujitsu Services Ltd, or any other Fujitsu Global-owned entities, since 2019. The Treasury Committee has stated that it aims to understand the way in which contracts have been awarded to Fujitsu since the Bates v Post Office [2019] EWHC 606 (QB) High Court action.

The Treasury Committee has published its Fourteenth Report of Session 2024–26, recommending that the Government increase taxation on online gambling to reflect the varying levels of harm associated with different forms of gambling. The Committee advised that the rates for Remote Gaming Duty (RGD) and Machine Gaming Duty should consistently exceed those for Gaming Duty, noting that remote gaming’s share of Gross Gambling Yield has risen sharply—from 12% in 2013–14 to 44% in 2023–24.

The Treasury Committee has published a report on the re-appointment Nikhil Rathi as chief executive (CEO) of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) following HM Treasury’s April 2025 announcement that the Chancellor had confirmed Rathi’s reappointment for a second five-year term until September 2030. The Committee considered the suitability of Rathi for this role against two criteria—personal independence and appropriate professional competence—and took both written and oral evidence from Rathi in order to make its decision, As a result, the Committee is satisfied that Rathi has the appropriate professional competence and personal independence to be re-appointed.

The House of Commons (HoC) Treasury Select Committee (TSC) has published a letter dated 30 April 2025 from Nikhil Rathi, Chief Executive, FCA, following recent evidence session on the 'Work of the Financial Conduct Authority', and a follow up letter from the TSC dated 7 April. In the letter, Rathi answers a number of questions raised in the TSC letter.

Susanna McGibbon KC (Hon), Treasury Solicitor and Permanent Secretary of the Government Legal Department (GLD), has announced that she will step down from her role in Spring 2026, after five years as Treasury Solicitor and 33 years as a government lawyer. The announcement was shared in a LinkedIn post in the days leading up to Christmas. McGibbon said she will support the process to identify her successor before her departure.

The Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Laura Trott, has issued a statement on the Public Service Pension Scheme Indexation and Revaluation 2024. Trott states that public service pensions will increase by 6.7% from 8 April 2024 in line with the annual increase in the Consumer Prices Index up to September 2023, except for public service pensions that have been in payment for less than a year, which will instead receive a pro-rata increase. Trott notes that public service schemes that rely on a measure of prices will use the figure of 6.7% for the prices element of revaluation, and schemes that rely on a measure of earnings will use the figure of 7.7% for the earnings element of revaluation. The effective date of revaluation is 1 April 2024, however some schemes have moved their effective date to 6 April 2024.
