The Health Research Authority (HRA) has announced, on the 30 July 205, updates to its suite of model commercial agreements used in clinical research with participating NHS and Health and Social Care (HSC) organisations. The revisions align the agreements with the model Commercial Chief Investigator Agreements (mCCIAs) published in June 2025 and incorporate feedback from users of earlier versions. The changes affect provisions on information sharing and contract signing, and the updated templates must be used in new IRAS submissions from 1 October 2025.

MPs will also look at effective leadership and how it supports whistleblowers. The deadline for submission of written evidence is 8 March 2024.

Health and Safety Executive: A statutory body whose role is the enforcement of work-related health and safety law under the general direction of the Health and Safety Commission established by the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. The ONR is no longer an agency of the HSE but is now a completely independent public corporation. HSE will remain as the health and safety enforcement authority for premises outside the nuclear site licence boundary such as Associated Development sites. The HSE has the right to nominate one non-executive director to the board of the ONR.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has announced a campaign launched by the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) to ensure that all residents of high-rise buildings in England are aware of how the Building Safety Act 2022 (BSA 2022) affects them. BSA 2022 provides a framework for safeguarding high-rise residential buildings, aiming to protect and empower residents to participate in the safety decisions that affect them. Under BSA 2022, residents hold enhanced safety rights, notably regarding the active reporting of safety concerns. The BSR is campaigning to promote awareness of these rights amongst high-rise building residents.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has published a letter to the Building Control Industry outlining new transitional arrangements for the registration of building control inspectors in England. A competence assessment extension period of 13 weeks is being established from 6 April 2024 to 6 July 2024. As of 14 March 2024, 3,261 professionals have begun their applications to register. The Director of Building Safety for HSE, Philip White, recognised in his letter the potential impact on the construction industry where there are not enough inspectors registered to practice by the legal deadline. White affirmed the need to continue to raise standards within the profession and highlighted that the changes introduced following the Grenfell Tower tragedy need to be remembered.
