This week's edition of Energy weekly highlights includes: announcements from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), including a consultation on managing the transition of North Sea energy production and the award of £55.7m in grant funding through the Floating Offshore Wind Manufacturing Investment Scheme (FLOWMIS) for the expansion of the Port of Cromarty Firth. In addition, this week, HM Treasury (HMT) launched a consultation on the development of a predictable fiscal response to future oil and gas price shocks. We also cover several announcements from Ofgem, including a consultation on its minded-to decision to approve the original proposal presented in the Grid Code 0117 Final Modification Report, which seeks to improve transparency and consistency of access arrangements for power station connections across Great Britain by establishing a common set of requirements, and the publication of guidance on Future Energy Pathways (FEP) detailing the process for developing the FEP methodology.

This week's edition of Energy weekly highlights includes: Ofgem consulting on its draft supplemental guidance on determinations, in relation to its role in arbitrating potential disputes arising out of the ‘Gate 2 to Whole Queue’ (G2WQ) process in connection with the TMO4+ grid connection reforms. Also this week, the Low Carbon Contracts Company (LCCC) has signed a Revenue Collection Contract for Sizewell C, marking Great Britain’s first nuclear project to be supported under the new nuclear Regulated Asset Base (RAB) model. Meanwhile, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) has published its Carbon Budget and Growth Delivery Plan, fulfilling statutory obligations under the Climate Change Act 2008, and Ofgem has launched a consultation on the consolidated set of heat network general authorisation conditions, which will establish regulatory obligations for authorised persons carrying out regulated heat network activities.

This week's edition of Energy weekly highlights includes: the extension by the National Energy System Operator (NESO) of the ‘Gate 2 Whole Queue’ evidence submission window to the date following publication by NESO of 10 days' notice of the window closure, which will be issued no earlier than 11 August 2025. In addition this week, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) has announced negotiations with six new carbon capture, usage and storage (CCUS) projects under the Track-1 expansion (T1x) of the HyNet cluster, as well as publishing two parallel calls for evidence on CCUS projects infrastructure development, namely on : (1) the evolution of CO₂ networks to support the transition from government-led support to market-driven operations and (2) whether the Regulated Asset Base (RAB) model remains appropriate for CO₂ storage regulation.

This week's edition of Energy weekly highlights includes: key energy announcements made in the Spring Budget 2024 by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP which include additional funding for the Green Industries Growth Accelerator (GIGA) in support of low carbon manufacturing supply chains in the UK, the introduction of a Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), the full parameters of the Contracts for Difference Allocation Round 6 (AR6), future regulation of providers of ESG ratings in the UK, planning and grid connection reforms and the extension of the Energy Profits Levy. In addition this week, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) has set out changes to the Feed-in-Tariffs (FiT) scheme supplier licence conditions to accommodate a change in the index used for inflation, and extended the Green Heat Network Fund (GHNF) to Wales.
