The European Commission has unveiled an action plan aimed at strengthening cybersecurity measures in the healthcare sector across the EU. The plan focuses on four key areas: enhanced prevention, improved threat detection, rapid response to cyberattacks, and deterrence of threat actors. Central to the initiative is the establishment of a pan-European Cybersecurity Support Centre for hospitals and healthcare providers, which will offer tailored guidance, tools, and services. The Commission has also proposed the introduction of Cybersecurity Vouchers to assist smaller healthcare entities financially. By 2026, an EU-wide early warning service for cyber threats is expected to be operational. The plan builds upon existing EU cybersecurity legislation and will be subject to public consultation for further refinement.

The European Commission has launched an investigation concerning possible circumvention of the anti-dumping measures imposed by Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/633 on imports of monosodium glutamate (MSG) originating in the People’s Republic of China (PRC) by imports of MSG consigned from Malaysia, whether declared as originating in Malaysia or not, and making such imports subject to registration. This is Case R818 and the latest date for definitive measures is 19 April 2025.

The European Commission has launched an anti-dumping investigation into imports of certain cold-rolled flat steel products (CRF) originating from India, Japan, Taiwan, Türkiye and Vietnam. The complaint, lodged by EUROFER on behalf of the EU’s industry, alleges that these imports are being dumped at prices below domestic market value, causing injury to EU producers. The investigation will assess whether the dumping has led to adverse effects such as reduced sales, lower prices and diminished market share for the EU’s industry.

The European Commission has launched an anti-dumping investigation into urea imports from Russia, following a complaint by Fertilizers Europe. The investigation, which cover the period from July 2024–June 2025, examines allegations that Russian state-fixed gas pricing creates market distortions, resulting in dumped exports. The Commission plans to register imports early during the investigation, which is expected to conclude within 14 months. Additionally, provisional measures could be imposed within seven to eight months. The investigation specifically targets urea products classified under CN codes 3102 10 12, 3102 10 15, 3102 10 19, and 3102 10 90.

The European Commission has initiated an anti-dumping investigation into imports of PET Spunbond from China, following a complaint lodged on 8 August 2025 by Freudenberg Performance Materials and Johns Manville. The investigation covers non-woven needle-punched polyester sheets weighing over 70g/m2 and between 0.5-1.8mm thick. The probe will examine dumping allegations during the period 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025, while injury assessment will consider data from January 2022 onwards. The Commission aims to conclude within 12-14 months, with potential provisional measures possible within 7-8 months. If dumping is confirmed, the Commission will assess whether imposing duties would serve the Union interest under Article 21 of Regulation (EU) 2016/1036.

The European Commission has opened a formal antitrust investigation into whether Google has breached EU competition rules by using web publishers’ content and YouTube content for artificial intelligence (AI) purposes without appropriate compensation or opt-out mechanisms. The Commission will assess whether Google imposed unfair terms and conditions on publishers and content creators, including the use of their material to generate AI Overviews and AI Mode on search results pages, and whether YouTube uploaders are compelled to allow their videos to be used to train Google’s generative AI models while receiving no remuneration and lacking the ability to refuse such use. It will also examine whether Google granted itself privileged access to online content and placed developers of rival AI models at a disadvantage, potentially constituting an abuse of a dominant position under Article 102 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU) and Article 54 of the European Economic Area (EEA) Agreement.

The European Commission has launched the Biomethane Mechanism, a voluntary, free-of-charge tool under the EU Energy and Raw Materials Platform. Designed to accelerate the growth of Europe's biomethane market, the mechanism aims to connect biomethane buyers and suppliers, reduce information asymmetry and increase regulatory transparency. The mechanism offers several key functionalities: (1) matching rounds to connect buyers and suppliers; (2) a regulatory dashboard providing up-to-date information on national frameworks; (3) investment conditions to support project development and (4) regional financing opportunities. Registrations opened on 18 June 2026. The first matching round is planned for September 2026, with additional functionalities to be introduced subsequently.

The European Commission has launched a call for participants in a Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Internet Standards Deployment to develop guidance for compliance with network security requirements under Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2690, adopted pursuant to the Network and Information Systems Directive 2 (NIS2). The Forum aims to identify key Internet standards and best practices, outline appropriate deployment techniques, and establish timeframes for fulfilling regulatory obligations. Its work focuses on four areas: the transition to next-generation network-layer communication protocols, deployment of modern interoperable e-mail standards, enhancement of DNS security, and improvement of Internet routing security and hygiene. The resulting guidance will support entities covered by the Regulation such as DNS service providers, cloud and data centre operators, content delivery networks, managed service providers, and major online platforms while promoting wider voluntary industry adoption.

The European Commission has launched a call for evidence to inform the mid-term evaluation of the 2023–2027 Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), as required under Article 141(4) of Regulation (EU) 2021/2115. It seeks stakeholder input on administrative burden and simplification following the 2024 CAP simplification measures and new delivery model, the CAP’s EU added value compared with Member State action and its continued relevance in addressing current and emerging challenges. The evaluation will assess implementation and early performance of CAP strategic plans (CSPs) from 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2025, including the effectiveness, efficiency, coherence and EU added value of support under the European agricultural guarantee fund (EAGF) and the European agricultural fund for rural development (EAFRD). The call for evidence closes on 6 April 2026.

The European Commission has opened a call for evidence period for its proposed regulation on carbon dioxide transportation infrastructure and markets. The initiative follows the February 2024 Industrial Carbon Management strategy, which identified the need for competitive CO2 transportation markets to support Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) development. The regulation aims to establish an EU framework for CO2 transportation infrastructure to help meet the EU's 2050 climate objectives. The Commission plans a public consultation in Q4 2025, with adoption scheduled for Q3 2026. The call for evidence period runs from 31 July to 11 September 2025.

The European Commission has opened a call for evidence on its proposed Construction Services Act, which aims to lower barriers to cross-border market access for construction and installation services across the EU. The Commission states that restrictive and diverse regulation of construction services currently holds back the supply of affordable and energy-efficient housing and infrastructure development, and that construction service providers should be able to make full use of a true single market. The initiative is part of the Commission Work Programme and is intended to accelerate housing and infrastructure supply by enabling cross-border service provision. A public consultation is planned for the fourth quarter of 2025, with Commission adoption scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026. The call for evidence runs from 10 November 2025 to 15 December 2025.

The European Commission has launched a call for evidence for an evaluation of the European Environment Agency (EEA) and the European Environment Information and Observation Network (Eionet) covering the period of 2022–26. The evaluation will assess the effectiveness, efficiency, relevance, coherence and EU added value of both organisations. It will also examine the EEA's governance, organisational structure and contribution to EU environmental and climate policy, taking into account progress since the previous evaluation. The Commission will support the evaluation through stakeholder consultations, surveys, interviews, an external study, desk research and performance indicators to produce an evidence-based assessment. The call for evidence will run until 21 September 2026, with adoption of the evaluation planned for the first quarter of 2028.
