The Electronic Communications (Security Measures) Regulations 2022 (the Security Measures Regulations 2022), SI 2022/933, come into force on 1 October 2022. These Regulations set out specific security measures that public telecoms providers need to take in order to satisfy the overarching legal duties contained in sections 105A and 105C of the Communications Act 2003, as amended by the Telecommunications (Security) Act 2021 (T(S)A 2021) (such amendments also coming into force on 1 October 2022). These latter provisions are brought into force by the Telecommunications (Security) Act 2021 (Commencement) Regulations 2022, SI 2022/931, which bring provisions of T(S)A 2021, so far as not already in force, into effect on 1 October 2022.
