The Property Litigation Association (PLA) and the Property Bar Association (PBA) have jointly written to the Master of the Rolls in relation to Practice Direction 51Z (PD51Z), which came into being on 26 March 2020. PD51Z, which stays all possession proceedings brought under CPR Part 55, does not appear to be limited to the forfeiture moratorium and protections for residential tenants against eviction as outlined in the Coronavirus Act 2020. In the letter, the PLA and PBA request urgent clarification of PD51Z, as well as an immediate amendment.
