The Ministry of Justice has announced that over 1,000 new trainee probation officers have been recruited, meeting government targets. A target of a further 1,500 probation officers has been set to recruit by March 2022. The probation officers will be supervising offenders as they leave prison on licence, in addition to those serving community sentences.
