The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has announced the expansion of the Clink Kitchens Scheme, which is expected to open at 25 additional prisons by the end of 2021. The scheme trains prisoners professionally in kitchen prisons for up to 35 hours per week while also providing the opportunity to gain professional qualifications which can lead to employment when released. Research suggests that offenders who have taken part in the Clinks Kitchen training scheme are almost a third less likely to reoffend, previously helping over 2500 offenders into stable jobs and the expansion is expected to support a further 2000.
