The Minister of Housing, Communities & Local Government, Simon Clarke, has pledged to distribute £6.1m to Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The funds will be distributed to local authorities to be passed on to BIDs and are aimed at covering funding for three months and contributing to their operational costs. The funds should help BIDs, as local business partnerships, to bring local authorities, developers and communities together to drive regeneration and deliver projects and additional local services. The £6.1m funding is in addition to previously announced packages for business support.
