The Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman has reminded councils that they are responsible for covering the expenses of foster carers’ school transport. This comes as a result of an investigation conducted following a complaint lodged by a foster carer who detailed that she was denied financial assistance for free school transport, despite qualifying for it statutorily. Although City of Wolverhampton Council initially contested the claim, the council ultimately acknowledged the Ombudsman’s conclusions.
