SRA Authorisation Rules 2011 definition

What does SRA Authorisation Rules 2011 mean?

Rules which are in the SRA Handbook which give the SRA powers to authorise entities to provide reserved legal activities (and other activities as specified by the SRA) and to revoke or impose conditions on authorisation when this is in the public interest

These Rules will apply to new ABS applicants when they apply to the SRA to be licensed. They will apply to all new recognised bodies from 28 February 2012, and all existing firms will be subject to these Rules from 31 March 2012. The Rules impose conditions on continuing authorisation including regulatory and statutory compliance requirements and having suitable arrangements to ensure compliance with the Handbook including the appointment of a COLP and a COFA.
